Arctic Steel Sea Strainers
Arctic Steel strainers are engineered to deliver exceptional seawater filtration performance and long-term reliability across the most demanding marine and industrial environments. Precision cast from superior 2205 stainless steel, the Arctic Steel range offers outstanding corrosion resistance and durability, making it ideal for commercial and military vessels operating under survey, including tugboats, workboats, pilot vessels, offshore support vessels, fishing vessels, patrol craft and other heavy-duty maritime applications., as well as a wide range of industrial, agricultural, mining, fire, petrochemical and food-grade applications.
Available in both Bottom-In Side-Out (BISO) and Side-In Side-Out (SISO) configurations, Arctic Steel strainers are designed to provide clean, uninterrupted cooling water flow to critical onboard systems including engines, generators, HVAC, hydraulic and air conditioning systems. The BISO Series is purpose-built for direct hull mounting applications, featuring a compact design with a self-cleaning function that allows larger debris to naturally discharge back through the inlet when engine suction is stopped. The SISO Series is engineered for remote base mounting applications and incorporates a low-positioned outlet to maintain a consistent head of water, reducing the risk of air locks and ensuring reliable operation even in turbulent conditions.
Both series feature a rugged marine-grade construction and an innovative offset inlet/outlet design that optimises water flow efficiency while enhancing filtration performance. Available in inlet sizes ranging from DN25 to DN150 (1” to 6”), Arctic Steel strainers provide dependable, high-capacity filtration solutions tailored to a broad variety of vessel layouts and operating requirements.
To maximise service life and protect against galvanic corrosion, all Arctic Steel strainers are cast with an integrated anode connection point for proper bonding to the vessel’s grounding and anode system. Correct bonding ensures all underwater metal fittings remain at the same electrical potential, preventing stray current corrosion that can damage the strainer or surrounding equipment. This protection is especially important in air conditioning applications, where continuously operating compressors can create aggressive corrosion conditions if not adequately bonded.
Complementing the strainer range, Taylor Marine also stocks a unique selection of Arctic Steel 2205 stainless steel inlet scoops, rose strainers, thru hull fittings, mounting brackets and adjustable mounting arms specifically designed for underwater installations of the Arctic Steel sea strainer range, delivering a complete premium-grade seawater intake solution for marine and industrial applications.
